Pre-liminary Task

The task was to: film a short sequence of someone entering through a door and containing basic dialogue. We are to create a scene which holds continuity and follows the basic filming rules; such as the 180 degree rule, match-on-action, rule of thirds, no jump shots, basic camera movement (panning and tracking), etc. As a group (Tansu, Reha and I) we decided to create a scene based on ‘The Surprising News’. As we are a group of three members, we decided to have 2 actors (Me and Tansu), and chose Reha to be our camerawomen.
Basic plot for the scene:
Varsha enters a room in which Tansu is marking a student’s work. She sits down and they begin a standard conversation. Tansu realizes that Varsha is not her usual cheerful self, and so questions her, eventually finding out a member of staff has passed away due to a terrible car accident.
Script:
*Varsha opens the door and walks into a room where Tansu is seen marking a student’s work*
Tansu: Hi, how are you?
Varsha: Hey, yea I’m fine
*Varsha sits down*
Tansu: What’s up? Is something wrong?
Varsha: Do you remember Mr. Smith?
Tansu: Oh the guy that works in the science department?
Varsha: Erm, well he had a car accident, and he never made it
*Tansu gasps and looks down*
